Hawaii’s public schools are bouncing back from the pandemic at an impressive rate, by nationwide standards, and showing consistent academic gains, according to the 2024-25 Strive HI Performance System report released last month by the state Department of Education (DOE). It showed improvements in science, math and language arts, higher attendance and a boost in college enrollment rates.

In fact, Hawaii is on track to achieve statistical academic recovery from the pandemic this year, making this state’s recovery better than many others’.
