WA is on track for the worst respiratory syncytial virus year on record, despite a strong uptake in immunisation.
Latest figures reveal 11,551 cases had been reported to the Department of Health as of Monday — just 104 cases shy of the current record set in 2022.
Only 9725 cases were recorded for the whole of 2024.
Hospital admissions remain slightly lower than last year, in part thanks to the State’s free RSV immunisation program for infants and expectant mothers.
