LUBBOCK, Texas — Kansas football finished well short of a Big 12 Conference road win on Saturday when it lost 42-17 against then-No. 10 Texas Tech.

The Jayhawks (4-3, 2-2 in Big 12) made things interesting heading into halftime, recovering from a 21-0 deficit to trail 21-17 at the break. But the momentum KU carried into the locker room didn’t propel them very far in the second half. Kansas coach Lance Leipold’s side watched the Red Raiders pull away.

KU will now head into an open week ahead of returning to action Oct. 25 at home against rival Kansas State . Players will have the opportunity to get healthier. Jayhawks coaches and players alike will have the chance to analyze what went wrong against Texas Tech and discern what can be done to improve before they next kick off late
