Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again thrown his support behind US President Donald Trump’s long-standing bid for the Nobel Peace Prize, even as he announced that Trump will be nominated for Israel’s highest civilian honour.
Speaking at the Gaza peace deal ceremony in Israel Parliament on Monday, Netanyahu said he had submitted Trump’s name to receive the Israel Prize, calling him “the first non-Israeli to be considered for the award.”
“All I can say about that other prize,” Netanyahu quipped, referring to the Nobel, “It’s only a matter of time, you’ll get it. But I want you to receive the Israel Prize, our highest award.”
