Detroit police are investigating a hit-and-run crash early Monday on the city's west side that left a man dead, officials said.
Officers were called at about 4:30 a.m. to the intersection of Joy Road and Central Street west of Livernois Avenue for a report of a crash, the police department said.
First responders found a man with severe injuries. Medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene, investigators said.
According to a preliminary investigation, a man was struck by a vehicle. Police said the vehicle's driver fled the area after the crash.
