Temperatures dropped in Week 5, giving us our first cool weekend of high school football – but the play on the field remained hot.

Thanks several teams taking a bye week, Week 5 had a small slate of games with crossovers ruling the schedule. There were blowouts, close games and everything in between, so finding candidates for Providence Journal Week 5 Player of the Week wasn’t difficult – but, as always, narrowing the list to five was.

We managed to find five players who stood out for a variety of reasons and will let you, our readers, decide on who should win this week’s award.
