Severo Losoya, 55, was more than a little brother to Daniel. He was his best friend.

The two lived down the street from each other and met every day.

"Whether it was a quick visit, a shared meal, or just checking in on one another, Chevy was always there," Losoya wrote in a victim-impact statement read aloud by prosecutor Courtney Boyd Friday morning in the 364th District Court. "There's a silence now, a missing piece of our family that can never be replaced."

Daniel described Severo, who he called "Chevy", as a warm and funny guy who was full of life and was known for his contagious laughter and the nicknames he would give people.
