A plane has crashed in a highway median in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, impacting traffic on Interstate 195, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

The westbound side of the highway has been closed at exit 19, as well as the left lane heading east.

The closure is expected to last for several hours.

State police said the crash involved a fixed-wing airplane and occurred around 8:15 a.m. They said the plane crashed on the median of I-195, resulting in a fire on the ground.

Video from the scene showed what looked like the main body of the plane on fire in the median, with another flaming piece of the wreckage on the other side of the road, just off the shoulder.
