SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
For the next couple of days, Northern California is expected to be soaked with rain and snow as the first major storm of the season arrives.
The KCRA 3 weather team is issuing Impact Days for both Monday and Tuesday because of how wet weather will impact travel and outdoor activities.
Here is what to expect for both rain and snow.
Rain forecast
Meteorologist Kelly Curran said rain in the Sacramento Valley could begin around noon and push eastward. The heaviest of the rain will be in the afternoon and evening. The region may see up to 1.5 inches of rain through Tuesday.
The Foothills are likely to pick up 1 to 2 inches, while higher elevations in the Sierra could receive up to an inch of rain through Tuesday.
