In a fitting climax to a month of passion, grit and grassroots football, Meethu FC Sopore clinched the Maj Gopi Singh Rathore, Shaurya Chakra Memorial North Kashmir Football Premier League title on Monday, edging out Haiderbeigh FC in a pulsating final at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Bandipora.

The stadium, packed to the stands and buzzing long before kickoff, erupted as the Sopore side sealed victory in a contest that went down to the wire.

The final brought an emphatic end to a league that featured 60 teams from across North Kashmir, making it one of the largest Army-backed football events in the North Kashmir in recent years.

Senior Army officers, officials from the civil administration, JK Police, BSF, CRPF, CISF, sports figures and community leaders were in attendance
