Protests erupted in Chicago over the weekend in response to the immigration crackdown and recent arrival of the National Guard in the city.

After days of tense anticipation, a federal appeals court made an Oct. 11 ruling on the National Guard deployment, USA TODAY reported.

The Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, located in Chicago, ruled the Trump administration cannot deploy the National Guard in Illinois, but said the president can still federalize the troops.
