Michigan’s defense collapsed against USC on Saturday in a 31-13 road loss Saturday, and the Wolverines pointed to missed tackles as the primary culprit.
On the latest episode of “Wolverine Confidential” podcast, MLive’s Ryan Zuke, Aaron McMann and Andrew Kahn discuss how Michigan’s defensive issues were deeper than that.
“Just how out of position Michigan’s defensive linemen and linebackers were,” McMann said of his defensive takeaways. “They were over-pursuing at times. They just never seemed to be in the right spots. They took poor angles at the ball. They looked ill-prepared.”
The Wolverines also allowed an opening-possession touchdown to Wisconsin the previous week before the defense clamped down the rest of the game. That wasn’t the case against the Trojans, who totaled 489 yards.
