State pensioners can get a £200 cash boost to help cover energy costs this winter. As well as the £300 Winter Fuel Payment being reinstated, Department for Work and Pensions, or DWP , state pensioners could benefit from another payout.

In Islington, state pensioners are being handed free £200 sums by the local authority. The move from the council in the capital city comes as part of the Household Support Fund, which has seen the Labour Party government hand hard-up OAPs cash.

The council says: "If you live in Islington and get pension credit, you can apply for help with household costs through the Household Support Fund.
