PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - Thousands of nurses and other health care workers at Kaiser Permanente facilities in northwest Oregon and southwest Washington are set to go on strike Tuesday.
Oregon Federation of Nurses & Health Professionals, which represents about 4,000 workers in four different bargaining units, says the strike will began at about 7 a.m. on Oct. 14.
Union members work at Sunnyside and Westside medical centers, as well as surgical centers and clinics throughout western Oregon and Washington.
The workers’ contracts ended Sept. 30 and bargaining with Kaiser has been “ongoing for months with very little progress,” according to OFNHP.
There will be six picket lines set up which will run through the end of the strike:
