Three days after rearresting an inmate who had escaped from Dharmanagar sub-jail in North Tripura district during the recently concluded Durga Puja, the police produced him before a local court on Monday. The inmate, identified as Mohammad Rahim Ali, was then sent to judicial custody till October 16.
Ali was rearrested in Assam’s Sribhumi district on Friday by a police team headed by the Dharmanagar sub-inspector with the cooperation of the local police.
Six inmates, including five undertrial prisoners, escaped from the sub-jail on October 1 when they were brought out for morning rituals and breakfast. Bedu Miah, a security guard posted at the sub-jail, was attacked by the inmates with some sharp weapons.
