LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Its been nearly two weeks since the federal government shut down as Congress has still not reached an agreement on budget spending bills.
The impacts are being felt across the federal workforce, including for active service members and veterans.
Its a situation veteran Brian Amburgey said he’s seen in the past, with the most recent shutdown being in 2019.
“A lot of our active duty and military went over a month without a paycheck and they was struggling. I mean, they’re just like the rest of us. They gotta have their money to live also,” he said.
While he’s not feeling the impacts of this current government shutdown directly, Amburgey is a part of numerous military advocacy groups.
