SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (WETM) — A Southport-based funeral home that served the community for decades has closed for good, according to an announcement from the funeral home's website.
Olthof Funeral Home on Pennsylvania Avenue in Southport permanently closed on Monday, Oct. 13, after nearly 80 years of service, following an announcement on Facebook and the funeral home's website.
In the statement, the business said:
"After nearly 80 years of serving our Elmira community, we've closed our doors and will no longer be serving families. For the time being, our business office will remain open for anyone with questions or who may need assistance."
The business was founded in 1946 by Robert and Louise Smith Olthof and remained in business for three generations of family dedication.
