Over 150 students in South Carolina are under quarantine following exposure to measles, according to state health officials. The quarantine affects at least 153 unvaccinated students from Global Academy of South Carolina and Fairforest Elementary, both located in Spartanburg County. These students will remain in quarantine for 21 days.

The outbreak in Spartanburg County has now grown to at least eight confirmed measles cases , contributing to a total of 11 cases reported in South Carolina this year. Nationwide, the United States has reported at least 1,563 measles cases in 2025, marking the highest number since 1992. There have been 44 measles outbreaks reported across the country this year, compared to 16 outbreaks last year.
