A medical issue is suspected as the cause of a single-car crash in Groveland Township on Oct. 11 which left the 84-year-old driver with critical injuries, according to Michigan State Police.

A preliminary investigation indicates the driver, a Holly woman, was northbound on Barron Road in a Buick Encore when she suffered a diabetic episode, went through the dead-end at Groveland Road, left the roadway and hit a tree, MSP stated on X. She was critically injured and transported to a local hospital, MSP stated.

The crash happened shortly before 7 a.m., according to MSP.
