INDIANAPOLIS – For now, Riley Leonard is No. 2.

But for how long?

That’s the question being debated at the Indianapolis Colts’ complex Monday in the aftermath of backup quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. suffering a fractured orbital in a freak accident prior to Sunday’s 31-27 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

The accident occurred when Richardson was working with a resistance band in the locker room as part of his pre-game routine. The injury required a trip to the hospital.

It instantly elevated Leonard, a rookie who was inactive as the emergency quarterback for the first five games, to Daniel Jones’ backup.

That was for Sunday.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Richardson will miss an undetermined amount of time. He’s still dealing with swelling around the eye.
