More rain fell on the Valley on Sunday morning, and Maricopa County officials said regions already saturated could face an increased flash flooding risk as additional precipitation is predicted for Monday.

Up to 2.5 inches of rain was added overnight Saturday and Sunday morning to add to four days of accumulation, according to the Maricopa County Flood Control District.

“Areas that saw the highest rainfall amounts include the central Phoenix corridor and the east and southeast county. A key difference for this rainfall – as mentioned in yesterday’s outlook – was the rainfall rates,” district officials stated in a release.

“The window has opened for strong thunderstorms capable of dropping considerable rainfall over a shorter duration.”
