The Eagles’ thin edge rusher group got even thinner on Monday as veteran Za’Darius Smith surprisingly announced his retirement from the NFL.
Smith, 33, signed with the Eagles after Week 1 and played just five games with the team before announcing his retirement on Instagram Monday morning. Smith led the Eagles’ edge rusher group with 1 1/2 sacks.
