CHAPEL HILL — There wasn’t a question about California.

Over the course of a 25-minute press conference inside the Kenan Football Center on Monday, Oct. 13, UNC football coach Bill Belichick wasn’t asked about the Tar Heels ’ ACC road game against the Golden Bears (4-2, 1-1 ACC) in Week 8 of the 2025 season.

Following an off week that included rumors and reports about Belichick’s future at UNC (2-3, 0-1), the 73-year-old coach reaffirmed his commitment to the Tar Heels and the process of getting the program to a point where progress is being shown on the scoreboard.

“Right off the bat, some of the reports out last week about my looking for a buyout and trying to leave here, and all that, is just categorically false,” Belichick said during his opening statement in a room full of media
