Telefónica’s Movistar Plus+ , the biggest Spanish pay TV/SVOD operator, is having a stellar 2025.
In April, it became the first company in history to win the two top prizes at Series Mania, Europe’s most important TV festival, with Alauda Ruíz de Azúa’s drama “Querer” and Diego San Jose’s thriller “Celeste,” the latter produced with the Mediapro Studio.
One month later, at the Cannes Film Festival, Oliver Laxe’s “Sirât,” another Movistar Plus+ original, took the Jury Prize. And in September, “Sundays,” a feature from Ruiz de Azúa, walked off with its top Golden Shell at the San Sebastián Film Festival.
