CHESTERTON — Police say a 22-year-old Hobart man initially discouraged what he believed was a 13-year-old girl from being on the gay hookup app Grindr.
But then discusses having sex and decided to drive early Friday to Chesterton in hopes of meeting her after saying, "hopefully this isn't a set up lol," according to a charging document.
When the accused, Anthony Brucer, arrived in the area of the Coffee Creek Preserve along Ind. 49 he was met by police and taken to the station where he initially clamed he was lost and then said he was there to buy marijuana, police said.
Police said they had been tipped off by a local vigilante group, whose members posed as the child.
Brucer eventually admitted to trying to meet a 13-year-old for sex, according to a court document.
