HOUSTON (KIAH) — Deputies said a person running from them was hit and killed on the East Beltway.

Investigators say he took off after he was spotted inside a stolen car linked to a murder in Jefferson Parish, La.

Deputies said that car was parked last night at the Walmart on the East Beltway when they moved in.

This started when the Harris County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana. Deputies there told HCSO they tracked down a stolen vehicle linked to a murder that happened in Louisiana.

When they found the vehicle deputies, the men started driving away, that's when one of the men jumped out climbed onto the beltway and eventually died.

They say two hours later they found the other man hiding in a backyard.
