New Delhi: The All India Football Federation has decided to allow field six foreigners in the playing XI for the Super Cup, despite appeals for reconsideration from several Indian Super League clubs.
At least three clubs including reigning ISL champions Mohun Bagan had requested the AIFF to reduce the number of foreigners , pointing to the need of greater game time for home-grown players.
But the AIFF’s league committee has decided to stick to the six-foreigners policy that has been adopted in the last couple of years for the competition that guarantees an Asian Champions League 2 play-offs spot for the winning side.
“We have decided to stick to the existing regulations. Rules can’t be changed on basis of some clubs requesting,” a league committee member told News9 Sports .
