MONTEVIDEO — The defensive efforts from Minnewaska Area football were on full display on Friday, Oct. 10.

The Lakers forced five Montevideo turnovers in the game, coasting to a 34-6 victory over the Thunder Hawks on the road. It’s the second consecutive game Minnewaska has held an opponent to six points or less, following its victory over Sauk Centre on Oct. 3, while the win moves the Lakers back above the .500 mark.

It took all of four plays for Minnewaska to traverse 71 yards on the game’s opening drive, completed by Marc Gruber’s 23-yard touchdown pass to Asante Adams. On Montevideo’s first drive, the Lakers recovered a fumble before Adams ran 56 yards to the house on the very next play.
