Des Moines police are investigating after receiving multiple reports of gunfire Monday afternoon in the River Bend neighborhood.

According to a news release, multiple people reported gunfire near the intersection of 6th Avenue and Forest Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Police also received a call from a person claiming to be the target of the shooting.

No injuries were reported, but police say there was gunfire damage to a vehicle and officers recovered shell casings.

There is no indication of ongoing danger following the shooting, police said, although people in the area should expect an increased police presence while the investigation continues.
