A longtime film star recently opened up about returning to a classic movie series.

Laurence Fishburne , who played Morpheus in the iconic “Matrix” franchise, said it wouldn’t be so simple for him to reprise his well-known role.

The actor was noncommittal when asked if he would return for an upcoming fifth installment of “ The Matrix ” during a reunion panel at New York Comic Con over the weekend.

“It depends on how good it is, really,” Fishburne said, per Variety . “If it’s great, then yeah, if it makes sense. I don’t know if it makes sense.”

It was announced in 2024 that screenwriter Drew Goddard would write and direct the new Matrix film. This will be the first Matrix movie not led by Lana and Lilly Wachowski although Lana will serve as an executive producer.
