Two Illinois universities have been named among the best in the U.S. in a new ranking.

Finance website Wallethub released its list of the best colleges and universities for 2026, naming both Northwestern University and the University of Chicago in the top 30.

Northwestern made the list at No. 10, while U of C came in at No. 17.

The ranking looked at 791 colleges and universities in the U.S. and evaluated each on what it considered to be seven "key dimensions," including student selectivity, cost and financing, faculty resources, campus safety, campus experience, educational outcomes and career outcomes.

The top school on the list was Princeton, followed by Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
