A 31-year-old man from Kitchener faces multiple charges after uttering threats and striking at an approaching individual with a machete.

Waterloo Regional Police responded to reports of a man striking objects with a machete around 5:25 p.m. on Saturday near Weber Street West and Victoria Street North in Kitchener.

” When approached by an individual, the male uttered threats and attempted to strike the person with the weapon,” the police report reads.

The man left the machete and fled the scene but was found by police shortly after.

He now faces charges of uttering threats, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
