DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (WAFB) - Denham Springs City Marshal Joe Shumate has been named the national Marshal of the Year by the National Constables and Marshals Association.

Shumate received the award at the group’s annual convention held last month.

Prior to becoming City Marshal, Shumate worked for 32 years with the Denham Springs Police Department.

He has been marshal since 2017.
