Vibrio vulnificus, the so-called "flesh-eating" bacteria, has recently made headlines in Florida, but its not the only place it is. It also lives in North Carolina.

The newest Florida case was reported in Hernando County, Florida's Department of Health said Oct. 10, bringing the total to 29. Five people have reportedly died in Florida this year after contracting the "flesh-eating" bacteria. The deaths occurred in Bay County, Broward County, Hillsborough County and St. John’s County , according to FDOH data.
