Firefighters responded to a routine medical call early Saturday evening about a man who had fallen and couldn’t get up, then quickly determined the house in Butte had dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide.

Firefighters got all three people in the house safely outside, including another man who required help walking, and a woman who was talking but then lost consciousness. All three were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Three firefighters were also taken to the hospital because of exposure to high levels of carbon monoxide. They were later released “though some levels of CO were still present in their blood,” according to a news release issued Monday morning by Butte-Silver Bow Fire Marshal Kelly Lee.
