Visitation and funeral services have been announced for Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, the longtime chaplain of the Loyola University men's basketball team who died last week at 106.
The adored nun who captured the nation's heart during the 2018 NCAA men’s basketball tournament will be remembered at a wake service at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the Madonna della Strada Chapel on campus. Visitation will follow from 5:30 to 10 p.m.
A funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with Rooney Hall and Mundelein Center designated as overflow spaces, according to the university.
Both the wake and funeral will be open to the public and streamed live on the university's website. Filming and photography won't be permitted inside the chapel, Loyola stated. Burial will be private.
