TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Mayor Regina Romero has announced the launch of the Safe City Initiative, aiming to enhance safety and quality of life in Tucson. The initiative focuses on smart enforcement, treatment partnerships, prevention opportunities, and access to justice, according to an open letter from Romero.

"Everyone deserves to be safe — in your neighborhood, at work, and in our public spaces," Romero said. "We hear your current concerns about safety in our community loud and clear, and we share them. That is why we are launching the Safe City Initiative."

Smart Enforcement will involve creating a Safe City Task Force, enhancing transit safety and deploying targeted law enforcement in high-crime areas.
