Boulder faculty are calling for University of Colorado leaders to propose and help establish a statewide Mutual Academic Defense Compact, which would create a coordinated alliance among colleges and universities in Colorado to defend academic freedom and institutional autonomy against political attacks.
The Boulder Faculty Council approved a resolution on Oct. 2 asking CU leaders to help create a compact for the state. The Boulder faculty’s resolution comes as faculty groups across the United States have embraced the idea after two professors at Rutgers University wrote a mutual defense compact for an alliance between Big Ten schools.
