LANDOVER, Md. — Chicago Bears kicker Cairo Santos’ right thigh injury flared up over the weekend, and there is a strong possibility Jake Moody will replace him Monday night against the Washington Commanders.

The Bears elevated Moody and defensive tackle Jonathan Ford from the practice squad for the game. The thinking initially was that bumping up Moody was a precaution in the event something happened with Santos.

However, a source said Santos’ injury popped up again over the weekend — he kicked in practice Saturday at Halas Hall — and now the Bears can turn to Moody.

Santos’ injury first occurred during the third quarter of the Week 4 victory in Las Vegas. Santos was 4-for-4 on field goals during the game, including two of more than 50 yards. He connected from 51 yards early in the four
