VINTON, Iowa (KCRG) - Two people were charged in connection to the death of a 20-month-old last year.

On September 22, 2024, a 20-month-old was found unresponsive at an apartment in Vinton. The child was found unresponsive in a pack and play that was used as a crib by her mother, identified as 23-year-old Kaylee Morris.

The mother’s boyfriend, identified as 24-year-old Mason Morgan, called first responders. Upon arrival, authorities took the child to the hospital where she was reported dead. Police conducted an investigation.

Court documents show that the child’s weight had “stagnated and begun to decline” almost seven months before she died. She went from the 89th percentile to less than the fifth percentile.
