YPSILANTI, MI — An Ypsilanti couple called police after a group of masked protesters showed up on their lawn and left a mess behind Sunday evening, Oct. 12.
The group was there to oppose the University of Michigan’s plan to construct a $1.2 billion data center campus for federal government and university research into artificial intelligence, national security, and other sciences in partnership with Los Alamos National Laboratory. The university is eying two potential locations in Ypsilanti Township , one off Textile Road east of Bridge Road and the other at a former site of a General Motors facility west of Willow Run Airport.
Michael and Kathy Bodary say the group of protesters picked their house because he chairs the board of the Ypsilanti Community Utility Authority (YCUA).
