Notre Dame center Ashton Craig will miss the rest of the season with a right knee injury suffered against North Carolina State on Saturday, Irish coach Marcus Freeman announced Monday.

Craig has been the Week 1 starting center for the Irish each of the last two seasons, but has played only nine games in those campaigns. He missed the final 13 games of last season with a left knee injury suffered against Purdue.

“Your thoughts go to the young man who worked so hard from last year after three games to get himself back into the position he was in this year,” Freeman said. “He was playing extremely well for us. It’s just unfortunate for him. You just feel bad for the kid, but we’ll be good. We have to continue to move forward."
