COLUMBUS, Ohio—A fifth candidate has joined the already-crowded Republican primary race for the Ohio Supreme Court’s last Democratic-held seat, according to state campaign-finance records.
Jill Flagg Lanzinger, a state appellate judge from Green, submitted paperwork to the Ohio secretary of state’s office on Friday indicating she was running for Ohio Supreme Court.
The move was expected, as Lanzinger told The Plain Dealer/cleveland.com last month that she would likely enter the race for Democratic Justice Jennifer Brunner’s seat next year.
Lanzinger confirmed Monday that she filed the paperwork but said she would wait to comment about her campaign.
