Job losses could hit two local neighbourhoods harder than most, if tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump batter the region’s economy.
One neighbourhood at greatest risk is in northwest Kitchener, where just over 7,000 people live near Victoria Street South and Westmount Road.
The other neighbourhood at greatest risk is in central Cambridge, where almost 6,000 people live between Bishop and Eagle streets in Preston.
In these neighbourhoods, one in five employees has a job directly exposed to taxes imposed by Trump on imports from Canada, according to new research out of the University of Toronto.
