When a teacher opens a door on the first day of school, he or she, is looking at young people with all kinds of road blocks that can interfere with learning. Poverty, lack of parental support, physical issues, food insecurity, mental health issues. Yet each person is greeted with open arms and a willingness to do anything to help that person learn. Easy to do? No!

Because of all the diversity levels in learning and environmental issues, any school board member must put kids first, and fight for opportunities to help all children. Following a political agenda formulated by outside groups and advisors cannot be helpful.
