Work is due to start soon on a Cambridgeshire building where RAAC was found. The 'urgent' mitigation work, which will reportedly cost around £900,000, was authorised in July after reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) was found at Peterborough Town Hall.

It will take place on the upper floor of the Bridge Street building as the current floor construction - the roof of the original 1930s building - is strong enough to withstand falling RAAC panels.

"We will be on site to start stripping out at the end of October," a council spokesperson confirmed.

Several pre-construction surveys have been carried out, including asbestos surveys and removal/remediation, removal of wall linings, and gantry design.
