The Town of Ponoka has kicked off its annual back-alley collection of compostable yard waste, starting today, (October 14).

This service offers residents a convenient way to dispose of excess grass clippings, leaves, weeds, and branches under five feet that don’t fit into standard green carts.

Town crews will make a single pass down each back alley to collect yard waste.

Residents without back alleys are asked to place their yard waste at the front of their property, near the curb, ensuring it is visible for pick-up and clear of the roadway.

It’s important to note that compostable yard waste should not be bagged, as bagged materials will not be collected to prevent contamination of the Town’s compost pile.
