CLARKSBURG W.Va. (WV News) — Recent data shows that teens in West Virginia are vaping more than teens in any other state. Health care workers and school faculty are working to mitigate this issue.

According to Drugwatch, 35.7% of high school teens in West Virginia admit to currently using electronic vaping products. That is the highest percentage reported in the U.S.

It was also reported that 17% of middle schoolers in the state vape, which, according to Drugwatch, is five times the national average.

Jody Sperry, Harrison County Schools coordinator of health services, said she has seen a notable increase in vaping during her time in West Virginia schools.
