Temperatures in Yuma County are expected to be below normal, according to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, with wind gusts up to 25 mph through Thursday, Oct. 16, then calming down to around 5 mph the rest of the week.

“There is a low pressure system that’s moving onshore out in the Pacific onto California,” said Katherine Berislavich, meteorologist with NWS. “So that’s helping. But also earlier, this past weekend, there were like two tropical systems that helped with moisture that caused the rain [in Yuma] and then also contributed to the rain in central and eastern parts of Arizona.”

No rainfall is forecast by NWS this week. Still, Yumans are encouraged to take precautions as gusty winds blow in from the aforementioned low pressure system.
