A South Haven man is facing several charges, and police are looking for two additional suspects after a home break-in and chase with police in Hagar Township last month.
The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says deputies were sent to the area of 5870 Erie Street on a report of an active home invasion around 5 a.m. on September 27. Upon arrival, the deputies spotted a U-Haul box truck speeding away from the home. The deputies attempted to pull it over, but the driver refused to stop.
The chase ended when the truck suddenly stopped, reversed, and rammed the patrol vehicle, which was disabled. The truck was later found crashed into a tree near Hagar Place and Carolyn Street. Two suspects ran off, but the driver of the truck remained inside and was taken into custody. He’s been identified
